For more than half my life, I have lived in Ridge Valley, a place where everyone knows their neighbours and cares about them. From 1988 to 1998, I baked breads, buns, cinnamon rolls and pies, and sold them at the Grande Prairie Farmer's Market.
In June of 1998 two very special ladies from Edmonton needed a place to stay when they attended an MS fundraiser in this area. I opened my home to them, and that was the beginning of my bed and breakfast. In the summer of 2000, Roy Angus Mitchell visited the
bakery to purchase some cinnamon rolls and ask if his friends from Alaska could
spend a few nights at the Bed and Breakfast.
![]() Roy & Flo on their honeymoon. | Hi!! We're Roy
and Flo. To make a long story short, we will just say that we
were married in June of 2001, at Pinky's Tea House. Roy is the perfect host. He
is full of genuine kindness, good stories, and knowledge of the north country
and its people. Twelve years as radio operator in the High Arctic, and seven
summers on Forestry towers in Western Alberta gave him a wealth of Northern
experience. Roy's Scottish, English, and First Nations background and Flo's
Dutch, German, Mennonite heritage lend to an acceptance of and interest in
people of any culture. |
